About the Challenge

Q: WHAT IS THE PINNACLE CHALENGE?

A: The Pinnacle is a unique desert boot camp that promotes fitness and challenges its participants and inspires healthy lifestyles. Participants leave with a host of fun memories and return to their daily lives ready to take on new personal challenges.

Q: WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM CONSIST OF?

A: The Pinnacle encompasses every aspect of health and fitness management, including diet, education and physical training, and provides its participants with all the tools necessary to live a healthy lifestyle. This comprehensive retreat includes hiking, yoga, circuit training, strength conditioning and water aerobics, as well as all the necessary recovery mechanisms such as restorative massage. In addition, The Pinnacle provides organic food prepared by renowned chefs, as well as educational lectures that help participants learn to better manage their minds and bodies. By taking people out of a typical gym routine or indoor workout and introducing new modalities for fitness, participants are inspired to implement different exercise and eating habits, resulting in significant changes to health and fitness levels.

Q: WHY WAS THE PINNACLE CREATED?

A: After attending other weeklong health excursions, The Pinnacle Founder, Robin Sullivan, realized the need for a shorter, more focused commitment. Through her extensive training experience, Robin was inspired to create something participants could do on a regular basis, without giving up valuable vacation time or leaving loved ones. She teamed up with trainers Meredith Miller and Lisa Austin to create an outdoor fitness retreat different from the others. Together, they worked to develop The Pinnacle. They had one goal: to inspire healthy lifestyles through education and challenges ... and to have fun doing it!

Q: HOW DO I TAKE THE PINNACLE LIFESTYLE HOME?

A: We will help you find the inspiration that lasts beyond a fleeting commitment. We guarantee you will discover the one aspect of your experience that you truly want to take home and implement daily. We can guarantee this because we introduce a host of new modalities to get you out of your comfort zone; then we educate you on these modalities so you can make them your own. The range of activities we provide from water aerobics to desert yoga is unrivaled. We call it the "Greatest Hits of Outdoor Training."

Q: DO I HAVE TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE TO ATTEND?

A: No! You may not believe us, but the program is truly designed to accommodate all fitness levels, from beginner to elite. The retreat can be modified to accommodate for people of any age, size or level of fitness. Participants range from casual walkers to intense athletes. Joining these wide array of fitness levels together is what helps make this experience so much fun.

Q: DO PARTICIPANTS NEED TO BE YOGA PRACTITIONERS?

A: No! Yoga is an important component of The Pinnacle, but it is not a yoga retreat. Yoga plays a role in recovery from all the other activities. If this is your first time trying yoga, our instructors are dedicated to giving you basic instruction to help you enjoy the practice. If you are an advanced practitioner, we will tailor movements to open your practice as well.

Q: WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING IN ORDER TO ATTEND?

A: Packing for the Pinnacle is simple. You do not need to go purchase full desert gear, but due to the dry climate, high temperatures and lengths of outings, we require some necessities:

  • Well-worn hiking footwear to prevent blisters
  • Hiking socks
  • Attire to be layered
  • 100 oz. Camelbak Hydration Gear, available at sporting and athletic stores (due to the duration of the hikes, no one is allowed to hike without this)
  • Other items to bring include, sunscreen, hats, visors, sunglasses, tennis shoes, comfortable workout wear, shorts, bathing suits, flip flops or sandals, sleeping attire, yoga attire, toiletries, a yoga mat and hair dryer.

A comprehensive list of other items will be provided at registration.
